On an autumn day in 2003, PAL sponsored its first Heritage Home Tour. Since then, PAL's home tours have become a popular event in La Crosse. They've provided La Crosse residents and visitors an opportunity to see the interiors of some of La Crosse's most interesting and beautiful old homes -- homes that they'd previously only wondered about when walking or driving by -- and they've provided PAL an opportunity to increase awareness of the importance of preserving the rich structural heritage of our city. Featured homes allow tour participants an "up close and personal" look at what careful renovation, restoration and preservation can accomplish.

PAL is grateful to all the homeowners who have helped Heritage Home Tour become a successful tradition in La Crosse. Homeowners who graciously open their homes to the public for a day play an important role not only in helping to educate the public in a very visual way about the benefits and rewards of preservation, but also perhaps in encouraging other homeowners to follow their lead. The more "old houses" that are transformed into "lovely old homes," the greater the benefit and satisfaction for the homeowners, and the greater the benefit for their neighborhoods and for our community as a whole, now and in the future.
