Main Street from Pettibone Park

This postcard bears a postmark from La Crosse dated July 23, 1907 at 6pm, and a "Received" postmark from Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, at 4pm on July 24th.  The description on the back of the postcard reads "This picture of Main Street - which is the principal business thoroughfare - was taken from Pettibone Park, across the Mississippi River.  The river front is occupied by the principal business houses, as is the entire section for two squares back from the river.  During the spring floods, the waters of the Mississippi frequently flood the basements of the places shown along the water's edge."
