La Crosse High School (later called Central High School) opened in 1907 in this bulding on Cass Street, between 15th and 16th Streets. In 1968, "new" Central High School, at Green Bay Street and Losey Blvd., was dedicated, and the old building was vacated. The city block where "old Central" once stood is now Weigent Park. La Crosse Central High School's 100th Anniversary was recognized and celebrated by graduates through the years at the downtown festgrounds on April 28, 2007.
