Location: 237 South 11th Street
Built: 1876
Style: Queen Anne, Italianate and Stick

This house sits high on a corner lot and is associated with several pioneer La Crosse families.  Dutch born Gysbert Van Steenwyck was a wealthy railroad developer, financier and public servant who established the Batavian National Bank.  The Van Steenwyk family purchased the home in 1909 and lived here into the 1960s.  This towering two-story home exhibits a blend of elements of the Queen Anne, Italianate and Stick architectural styles.
